I’ve been a big fan of Ron McMillan’s crime thrillers ever since I read his Yin Yang Tattoo, and now he’s back again with Don’t Think Twice. Set in Scotland in the 1990s with the unlikeliest of characters, Rab Singh, a police officer in a small Scottish town, this thriller has Singh searching for a missing woman while trying to clear his dead father’s name, a suspect in another missing woman case.
Woo-boy! hold on to your seats folks, because this is a riveting, and if you can excuse the cliché, “a real page-turner” of a book! It started off nice and slow, with just enough of an enticing plot to get you hooked, and then it was off to the races. Seriously, this is the kind of book that you don’t want to put down because once McMillan hooks you, he won’t let you go.
I’m not going to spoil your reading pleasure by giving away too much of the story, but I will tell you this, I particularly enjoyed McMillan’s writing style in this one. I loved all the cultural references and the literary snapshots of Scotland, which, after reading this book, if you haven’t been to Scotland, you’ll want to go!
This is an author who truly knows his craft and how to tell a good story.
